How To

How to drive a nails in wood

First, choose the right size and type of tool to drive a nail through wood. The most commonly used types of Hammers are claw hammers. Each type of hammer has its pros and cons. A clawhammer works best when hitting something hard like nails. However, it can sometimes be difficult to see exactly where the strike is going. A sledgehammer is useful for striking large areas at once but too heavy to be effective for smaller tasks.

After you've chosen the right tool, hold your hand flat to the handle so it rests comfortably in one of your palms. Grab the handle tightly, but do not squeeze too hard. Your wrist should be relaxed while you hold the hammer straight upwards. Then swing the hammer back toward the ground, aiming for the center of the nail. You should feel the impact of your hammer hitting the nail. Try practicing with a block to help you master the art of swinging a stick.

Hold the hammer near your body until you're ready for the nail to be driven. Place the nail so that it is perpendicular with the wood's surface. Keep your focus on the tip of each nail. Swing your hammer forward. Then follow through with the motions of the hammerhead. Repeat this action several times, gradually increasing the speed of the swing. Once you have mastered this technique, increase the power of your swings. To make it more powerful, hold the hammer up high to your shoulder and then bring it down. This will help you put more energy behind each of your moves.

Once you've made the first nail hole, take out the hammer. Use a pry bar or screwdriver to pull out the rest of the nails. You should ensure that the nails are flush with the board's surface to avoid splitting the wood.
